Our Philadelphia Asbestos Lawyers Support National Asbestos Awareness Week 2014

By U.S. Senate resolution, the first week of April, 2014 has again been established as National Asbestos Awareness Week.  This is the tenth annual resolution passed by the Senate to increase public awareness about the dangers of asbestos exposure.  It is also a time to educate the public about the continued predominance of asbestos-related diseases and for mesothelioma victims to share their stories.  The Philadelphia asbestos law firm of Brookman, Rosenberg, Brown & Sandler supports the work of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), the powerhouse behind National Asbestos Awareness Week.

ADAO is a non-profit organization group committed to patients and their families affected by asbestos diseases.  The organization advocates to abolish the use of asbestos in an effort to eradicate mesothelioma and other cancers linked to asbestos exposure.  The large organization fights for the elimination of imported asbestos products and asbestos materials used in the U.S. in an effort to save lives and subsidize research for treatment options for mesothelioma and a cure for asbestos-related diseases.

There is a direct correlation between asbestos exposure and a wide variety of diseases, including lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma.  According to the World Health Organization, asbestos causes more than 107,000 deaths each year.

This year during National Asbestos Awareness Week, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization will hold its Tenth Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference from April 4 to 6 in Arlington, Virginia.  A large number of medical experts will present at the conference in addition to asbestos victims from across the globe.  Conference topics include the newest medical developments for preventing asbestos-related diseases, advances in mesothelioma treatment options along with the ADAO’s unrelenting fight for a worldwide ban on asbestos use.

For more information about National Asbestos Awareness Week this year, April 1 – 7, 2014, visit the ADAO website.
