Philadelphia Asbestos Attorneys Applaud Princeton University Professor’s Award for Mesothelioma Treatment

At its April meeting, the National Academy of Sciences will honor Dr. Edward C. Taylor, the A. Barton Hepburn Professor of Organic Chemistry Emeitus at Princeton University in New Jersey, with the Chemistry in Service to Society award. Dr. Taylor’s contributions to heterocyclic chemistry lead to the development of pemetrexed (brand name Alimta), the first and only FDA-approved treatment for mesothelioma. Pemetrexed works by blocking substances in the body that help cancer cells to reproduce. Approved for the treatment of mesothelioma and small-cell lung cancer, pemetrexed is also being tested in numerous clinical trials for other cancer types.

As advocates for victims of mesothelioma and their families, the Pennsylvania and New Jersey asbestos attorneys at Brookman, Rosenberg, Brown & Sandler recognize the importance of Dr. Taylor’s work and accomplishments. We applaud Dr. Taylor and his contributions to the ongoing research for the development of mesothelioma treatments and hopefully one day soon a mesothelioma cure. Only through the dedication and diligence of physicians and researchers such as Dr. Taylor can the deadly disease and its devastating effects be eradicated.
